In 2013, WILMS introduced a screen to be built into the cavity wall above the window. Clearly, we had already understood back then how important airtight building was going to become. We have continued developing our products to the extent that WILMS is now the only manufacturer who is able to deliver fully airtight solutions.

1. Screen - Hidden from view

Introduced in 2013, ZipX®Zero is a screen that can be integrated in a cavity wall, completely airtight. Indeed, the screen cassette is nicely tucked away behind the façade. Even the bottom rail disappears into the cassette. Therefore, when rolled up, the ZipX®Zero remains totally invisible, both inside and outside. In case repairs would be needed, these can easily be done from the outside, without the need for heavy work.

In order to build the ZipX®Zero box into the cavity wall, part of the insulation material needs to be removed. WILMS has developed a composite profile to compensate for this.

WILMS always equips the composite profile with an airtight film at the top and the bottom of the window. This film is then perfectly finished against the outside of the inner wall.

Forget poorly-insulating plywood and the problems it causes. WILMS’ solution takes away the risk of condensation.

Next to traditional steel axes, WILMS also offers carbon axes. This patented innovation with an improved fabric fastening prevents fabric slack and avoids horizontal roll-marks. Carbon axes are also very light, making them easy to handle and install. The same technique exists for aluminium axes which are suitable for shorter screens.

6. Guide rails - One whole with the window

As ZipX®Zero’s guide rails are integrated in the façade, they are invisible to anyone facing the window. Moreover, we coat or paint them in the same colour as the window profile. We have designed the guide rails in such a way as to allow putting fly screens. The guide rails come in three parts, which makes installing them easier still.

Cold and humidity always try to find their way into the house via the window-sills. WILMS has developed a special drainage profile which, in combination with the drainage film, keeps humidity at bay.

For the window-sills, you can choose between aluminium and stone. You can order WILMS’ insulated aluminium window-sills in a RAL colour to your liking.
